Clinical Research

The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) is focused on increasing the role of vascular surgery in clinical research trials, supporting the vascular surgery researcher and encouraging research in critical areas of vascular disease.

SVS Clinical Research Priorities

SVS has identified its top clinical research priorities to address critical gaps in knowledge guiding practitioners in prevention and treatment of vascular disease.

Clinical Research Trials

Vascular surgeon scientists are leading major multidisciplinary, multicenter clinical trials in critical limb ischemia, carotid artery disease, inferior vena cava filters, and smoking cessation. Learn more about these trials:

SVS Clinical Research Study Approval Program

The SVS Clinical Research Study Approval Program facilitates clinical research addressing important questions in vascular disease management and maximizes participation of SVS members in the conduct of this research. Clinical research studies meeting the criteria established by the SVS Research Council shall be eligible for recognition as a SVS Approved Clinical Research Study Proposal or SVS Approved Clinical Research Study. Learn more about the program.

SVS Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) Application Template

The SVS template was developed by members of the SVS Outcomes Committee in partnership with the Food and Drug Administration. The SVS IDE Application Template for Sponsor-Investigators using Physician-Modified Endografts or Industry Manufactured Endovascular Systems for Infrarenal, Juxtarenal, and Pararenal Aortic Aneurysm Repair contains the foundation for developing an original IDE application and should be used as a general guidance in preparing the IDE for submission. SVS retains copyright and control of the template.
